Frequently Asked Questions
Care instructions
Each of my pieces is crafted with care and built to last. With proper handling, they can be enjoyed for years to come! Here’s how to keep them looking their best:
- Dishwasher Safe: My ceramics are dishwasher safe, but for the longevity of the pieces, I recommend using the top rack and a gentle cycle whenever possible. Hand washing with a mild detergent is always a great option to extend the life of your piece even further.
- Microwave Safe: Feel free to use my ceramics in the microwave. However, avoid sudden temperature changes, such as moving directly from the refrigerator to the microwave, as this can cause thermal shock and potentially crack the piece.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: While my ceramics are durable, they are still vulnerable to extreme temperature changes. Do not place them in a preheated oven, on the stovetop or directly over a flame.
- Handle with Care: Although sturdy, handmade ceramics can still chip or break if dropped or knocked against hard surfaces. Take care when stacking and storing them.
Returns & exchanges
All sales are considered final – at this time I do not offer refunds or exchanges due to the complexity in shipping ceramics.
If the item arrives damaged or broken, please reach out ASAP and I can provide a refund in this instance only. If you’d rather exchange your broken item for a new dump, I can work with you to provide a replacement piece. Replacement items may take up to 8 weeks to complete as I may have to create them from scratch!
Custom orders & business inquiries
Due to demand, I am currently CLOSED for commissions and custom orders.
BUT if you have a special project or business opportunity to chat about, send me an email jordan@baobaopottery.com and let's have a conversation!
Everything is sold out...how can I purchase?
I'm a small-batch potter, so I am often sold out... I know it can be frustrating. The beauty of handmade ceramics is that they aren't mass produced and take a great deal of time, care, and attention.
There are 3 avenues to try to purchase my work:
- Join the Bao List to request a dumpling through the waitlist– this is not a guarantee of product! No money is exchanged upon joining the list. This is simply a request that I will work towards getting to at some point in the future– I may get to it tomorrow or I may get to it in years. The Bao List is currently ~3000 requests long.
- Wait for the next Dump Dump (scheduled shop drop)
- Find me at an in-person market in Calgary, AB
My next market is December 6-8, 2024 at the Holiday Market Collective!
Shipping & duties
I meticulously pack and ship all packages by hand using recyclable paper and biodegradable starch packing peanuts that can be dissolved in water. All packages ship through a delivery service called Chit Chats which partner with local delivery services to get you your packages.
Customers are responsible for all fees associated with customs and duties upon delivery. I am not able to estimate or control these fees, so please contact your local customs office for more information.
Orders are processed, packaged and sent out for shipment within 5 business days of the order date. Once shipped, delivery times are usually from 3-10 business days within North America, and can be up to 30-40 days for international customers.
